Pubblicata come primo numero del bimestrale Storia Militare Briefing, la monografia è il primo libro in italiano sulla storia della jeep della seconda guerra mondiale.

Published as the first title of the bimonthly Storia Militare Briefing, this is the first Italian-language book on the history of the iconic WW2 jeep.

Accompagnato da disegni a colori appositamente realizzati da Ruggero Calò, si articola su sei capitoli sulle origini, le versioni (compresa la GPA anfibia e la quasi sconosciuta Rotabuggy volante), l’impiego bellico, l’uso militare nel mondo (dall’Austria al Vietnam!) e in Italia, nonché i tentativi di succedere al successo. Non mancano la descrizione tecnica, l’origine del nome e un’introduzione alle targhette di identificazione. Vittorio Argento conclude il lavoro con una riflessione sulla filosofia del restauro.

Accompanied by specially-made color drawings by Ruggero Calò, the book has six chapters covering origins, variants (including the GPA amphibian and the little-known Rotabuggy flying jeep), wartime service, military service worldwide (from Austria to Vietnam) and in Italy, as well as attempts to develop jeep successors. Also included are a technical description, origin of the name and an overview of the all-important dataplates. Vittorio Argento wraps up the work offering his thoughts on how to approach a jeep restoration project.
